I hope this will allow my students to hitch a virtual ride with me to DC. Here, I will chronicle my cross country trip with my wife, Amber, to attend the inauguration of Barack Obama. I take seriously the privilege I have been afforded with this opportunity, and want to share my experiences as much as possible. Join me on my journey through tollbooths, traffic, weather, more traffic, huddled masses, security checks, and, of course, the inaugural ceremony itself.

For Parents
The intention of this blog is for students to see what I see at the inauguration. As such, this will be kid-friendly at all times. Nothing said in my blog posts will be anything I wouldn't say in a classroom full of students. I welcome comments in response to my posts, but have set the controls to where every comment must be approved by me before being made public. There are no ads, either, so the integrity of the blog should be safe at all times- all content is either initated by, or runs through, me. As with any media to be consumed by kids- print, television, internet, and so on- I encourage adults to still monitor the blog themselves as well.
The crowd is growing as word gets out on his route. We were here to stake our spot, luckily, after some stealthy driving by my brother-in-law. Obama's about a couple minutes away, coming from a community service luncheon through Crestwood.
